How to prepare the vehicle’s paint before applying wax protection
For best results with Meguiar’s Ultimate Finish, start with a freshly washed vehicle. Always use a pH balanced car wash soap like Meguiar’s Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo and Conditioner. Next, run your clean, dry fingertips over the paint. If the paint feels rough to the touch this indicates that you have bonded contaminants on top of your paint. These are things like tree sap mist, industrial fallout, road tar, and paint overspray. Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay Kit comes with everything you need to safely remove contaminants bonded on the paint and leave it as smooth as glass. Finally, evaluate the paint for below surface defects. If you have light to moderate swirls, scratches, oxidation, water spots, or etchings you would want to use a product like Meguiar’s Ultimate Compound. Then, follow with a polish like Meguiar’s Ultimate Polish for maximum shine and gloss before applying your protection. Polish is an optional step that is most effective on darker paint colors.
A few tips for applying Meguiar’s Ultimate Fast Finish
Take the premium microfiber towel that comes in the box and fold it into quarters. Spray the Ultimate Fast Finish on one side of the towel and spread thin and evenly to a section of the paint. Flip your towel to a clean side and do a final wipe. It’s that easy, the product doesn’t need to haze or dry, and no buffing is needed. Repeat this process in sections over the vehicle and you’ll have your paint shiny, slick, and with maximum protection in no time. An additional feature is that the product dries clear so you don’t have to worry about getting that unsightly wax residue on the non-painted trim pieces. Instead, you’ll get long-lasting protection, high water beading, and increased shine and slickness.
You can use Ultimate Fast Finish in place of your favorite liquid or paste wax as it provides synthetic, polymer protection on your paint that lasts for up to a year. Alternatively, it can be used over your favorite wax to provide additional long-lasting protection.
